Job Description

Time Out Dubai is looking for a skilled, ambitious deputy digital editor who is brilliant at content creation and passionate about data. A key part of the Dubai team, they will be a strong writer and communicator, have excellent copy editing and organisational skills, and a proven track record of delivering world-class content and growing an engaged digital audience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Deputy Digital Editor will primarily be responsible for but not limited to the following:
  • In conjunction with Time Out Dubai Digital Editor, develop strategy for web and expand traffic.
  • Assist the Digital Editor with planning, commissioning, editing and writing high-quality content for web.
  • Ensure daily content and audience targets are met.
  • Analyse the performance of digital content, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Regularly check and track long-form, evergreen content.
  • Produce and present regular reports.
  • Help oversee the Time Out Dubai social media strategy.
  • Actively seek the biggest talking points, conversation starters and new lines in the city. Must be both proactive and reactive in finding core Time Out stories in Dubai and telling them digitally. 
  • Work with the video team to create successful content relevant to the Time Out brand.
  • Create content that meets individual and brand goals (e.g., engagement, traffic, conversion, etc.).
  • Post digital content using our in-house CMS.
  • Create bespoke digital content packages to help deliver brand editorial and commercial goals.
  • Support the editorial team to create and deliver the digital content that supports brand products, such as the Time Out Dubai Restaurant Awards and Time Out Dubai Nightlife Awards.
  • Ensure Time Out’s editorial standards are met, all relevant copyrights have been cleared, content is optimised for SEO and content meets local and legal guidelines.
  • Support the editorial and the sales teams to develop revenue-generating content strategies.
  • Write and sub digital advertorials for Time Out Dubai clients when needed.
  • Develop copy to support the commercial success of Time Out’s business.
  • Have your finger on the pulse of the local scene; use your professional contacts and social-media networks to be the first to identify the next big thing and establish good relationships with PRs.
  • Undertake restaurant and bar reviews outside of office hours, and occasionally attend PR or client events.


Requirements

KEY SKILLS

  • Fluent in web analytics software (Google Analytics 4, Chartbeat, Parse.ly, CrowdTangle, etc).
  • Skilled headline writer and editor, with a knack for snappy, clickable, scroll-stopping copy.
  • Ability to produce flawless editorial copy, filled with personality but with search optimisation front-of-mind.
  • Excellent grasp and understanding of SEO best practice.
  • Data-driven, but understands that brand longevity wins every time.
  • Highest standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of media law and industry ethics.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise accordingly.
  • The ability to work quickly to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • A strong industry reputation (preferred).
  • Flexibility and a professional approach at all times.
  • Fluent English.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least four years’ experience in digital media.
  • Strong understanding of writing for digital, SEO best practice and digital marketing.
  • Experience working with a CMS and SEO tools.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign (preferred).
  • Understanding of the Middle East’s dynamic cultural identity, and a passion for new experiences.
