Job Description

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager who is an expert in Nuclear Waste Management to be engaged on a permanent basis in Saudi Arabia. 

Job Summary

This is a technical role within the National Center for Radioactive Waste Management (NCRWM). The NCRWM has the responsibility to coordinate the development of the Saudi national infrastructure for radioactive waste management and to operate national facilities for the storage and disposal of radioactive waste.

To achieve its mission, the NCRWM is planning to launch a technical consultancy project (the project) with the objective to continue the development of the national framework for radioactive waste management and confirm the suitability of its site for the long-term management of radioactive waste.

The primary objective of this role is to take the lead in overseeing the contractor’s activities and the project deliverables. The individual will be responsible for setting up the internal arrangements to successfully deliver the project and support the NCRWM taking ownership of project deliverables.

The NCRWM is also focusing on the development of its human and technical capability. With that mind, the individual is required to lead in the development and implementation of plans to develop its capability.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1.

Lead the project management team at the NCRWM and establish arrangements to support a successful execution of the project.

2.

Maintain an accurate and up to date schedule of deliverables, and identify and manage risks to the project.

3.

Establish arrangements for the NCRWM to take proper ownership of project deliverables.

4.

Establish arrangements to maximize the knowledge transfer during the project execution phase.

5.

Establish a process for knowledge management.

6.

Provide radioactive waste management expertise and act as an intelligent customer in radioactive waste management.

7.

Provide high quality technical advice to support NCRWM activities.

8.

Specify, manage and co-ordinate support from within the organization and other external entities, as required.

9.

Assist with the development and implementation of technical and non-technical procedures, as required, to support the NCRWM activities.

10.

Support the development and implementation of plans to build the human and technical capability of the center.

11.

Provide mentoring support to the NCRWM staff.

12.

Work effectively and maintain strong relationship with internal and external stakeholders.


Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of radioactive waste management practices including international best practices.
  • Working knowledge of policies and strategies in radioactive waste management.
  • Working knowledge of project management.
  • Working knowledge of licensing and safety case requirements.
  • General awareness of interfaces and interactions during the development of national infrastructure for radioactive waste management.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead scientific and technical meetings and organize conferences, workshops, training events, etc.
  • Ability to interact and to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across organizational boundaries and ability to interact effectively with internal and external counterparts in a multicultural environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity.


Certification and Experience:


  • Radioactive waste management professional experienced in the design and operation of radioactive waste management facilities.
  • Experience in the transport of radioactive material.
  • Holder of a recognized certificate or member of a recognized society in radioactive waste management.
  • Experienced project manager.
  • Experience in the development of a nuclear safety case.
  • Experience in nuclear licensing, permits and consents.
  • Experience in writing technical specifications for the procurement services related to radioactive waste management.
  • Experience in the role of intelligent customer.
