Job Description

Location: Media City, Dubai (Office-based)
Duration: Two weeks
Start Date: 10th of February 

Dazed MENA is seeking a meticulous and experienced Sub Editor to join our team on a freelance basis for two weeks to help finalise our upcoming print issue. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the production of a bold, youth-focused publication that champions creativity and culture in the MENA region.

Responsibilities:

  • Sub-edit all copy for the upcoming print issue, ensuring impeccable grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Fact-check content to ensure accuracy and consistency across all articles.
  • Collaborate closely with the Deputy Editor to maintain the Dazed MENA editorial tone and style.
  • Liaise with the Art Director to ensure copy aligns seamlessly with the magazine's visual layout.
  • Manage tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Provide final proofreading and sign-off on all pages before printing.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sub Editor, preferably on print titles.
  • Familiarity with Dazed's editorial tone and the ability to maintain it.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience using InDesign and CMS tools is highly desirable.
  • Based in Dubai and able to work from the office for the duration of the role.
