Job Description

Our client is a large construction company is currently looking for a Sr. Commercial Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for quantity surveying tasks of all projects, contract administration, and assistance to project managers for routine contract and commercial-related support. The position reports to and is supervised by the Commercial Director in collaboration with team members from the Commercial Department and shall support the other departments (mainly Finance and Operation).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Quantity surveying & cost management Experience
  • Prepare and submit the projects’ monthly interim payment applications, as well as Final statements, and follow-up with Client’s and/or Engineer’s representatives till final approval is obtained.
  • In liaising with other departments, prepare, analyze, price, and submit in a time manner, change orders/variations and any additional scope of works according to the contracts’ requirements, and follow-up with Client’s and/or Engineer’s representatives till conclusion is reached.
  • In liaising with other departments, prepare, submit in a time manner, defend claims and follow-up with Client’s and/or Engineer’s representatives till conclusion is reached.
  • Prepare and submit projects’ final accounts (assembling all relevant project measurement sheets, approved change requests/variations and claims), as well as attending meetings with the clients QS’s and commercial managers to close final account).
  • Prepare and/or assist the finance department in providing cost details and/or estimating variations, change orders, or claims as may be required for the budget revisions and for the routine project monitoring or audit.
  • Prepare project-related commercial reports, as needed.
  • Attend regular meetings for routine project commercial related matters.
  • Prepare cost and budgetary reports whenever required (cost to complete, effective contract price, etc...).
  • Assist in preparation of monthly project progress reports, and any other cost reports required by PM’s;
  • Assist in obtaining project insurance policies based on each project’s requirements.
  • Assist in obtaining project bonds/guarantees based on each project requirements 
Contract administration Experience
  • Prepare and manage project’s contract related correspondence.
  • Support project managers with contract related issues (clarifying contract scope of works, etc...), and to issue the required correspondences.
  • Outline and monitor the process of closing out of contracts based on each Project’s contract requirements.
  • Assist with subcontract / contract review when required
Experience in project planning/ scheduling
  • To have a fair knowledge of project planning, to have the ability to create project programs to assist the planning requirements.
  • To have the ability to analyze and understand primavera project programs, as may be necessary, in defending or preparation of claims, pricing additional scope of works and time requirements, …etc



Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of exempt level related experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a contract’s administrator (preferably within piling and foundation engineering filed).
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying
  • Fair knowledge in different types of piling, shoring, marine works, specifications, and methodologies.
  • Fair knowledge of CCS (CANDY) estimation software.
  • Basic knowledge of the Planning software. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD (preferable).
  • Knowledge of the contract’s conditions, especially FIDIC’s.
  • Expertise in administering the contracts.
  • Expertise in the preparations of claims & variations
  • Basic knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications: MS Office, Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
  • Reasonable knowledge in operating Project Planning Software is an advantage (such as Primavera, MS Project …etc.)
  • Work Environment - Indoor
