We are currently seeking to recruit Senior Lecturers/Lecturers for the School of Engineering and Construction. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching various modules in the BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering programme. Due to the large number of applications received, we may only contact the shortlisted candidates for interviews. · Deliver a range of modules across the respective programme, · Develop teaching materials and assessments for the modules they deliver across the programme. All lecturers are also expected to make relevant contributions to the development of teaching materials and assessments for all modules across programmes to ensure that learning objectives are met, · Revise and update existing modules in line with the latest industry developments, · Collaborate with industry advisory boards to enhance the relevance and quality of the programme and modules, · Develop assessments for the programme modules, ensuring compliance with LJMU guidelines and policies, alignment with the assessment matrix, and adherence to verification and external moderation deadlines, · Serve as a personal tutor for students across the programme portfolio, · Act as an academic coach and mentor to students, being available and willing to discuss students concerns and issues, their performance, and academic progression, · Teach and assess students across a range of written and presentation skills, providing individual feedback on students’ performances, · Participate in extracurricular activities to build teamwork and student engagement, · Supervise or co-supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects within their field of expertise, · Comply with all LJMU academic regulations and Oryx Universal College Quality Assurance processes related to the modules and programmes they deliver, · Contribute to the continuous development of existing programmes and the introduction of new programmes within their school, · Develop and deliver CPD and short courses to enhance the School of Engineering and Constructions portfolio, · Engage in approved research to contribute to knowledge in strategic priority areas, · Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars, conduct tutorials, practical sessions, workshops, and student field excursions at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, · Attend departmental, school, and faculty meetings and serve on a number of committees, · Commit to structured and unstructured continuous professional and personal development to enhance performance, career growth opportunities, and unlock potential, Additional value will be regarded for: Hours: Fulltime Undergraduate Programmes: Postgraduate Programmes:
About the Role
Candidates joining as senior lecturers or lecturers at this stage will be considered team members of the respective school. By demonstrating their leadership capabilities, skills, motivation, and productivity, they will subsequently be considered for senior roles and responsibilities within the school, including positions such as Dean, Associate Dean, Programme Leader, Module Leader, and Coordinator, among others.
