Job Description

The Senior Foreman is responsible for leading and coordinating all joinery-related activities on construction sites. They will ensure that joinery work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires a strong understanding of joinery techniques, materials, and tools, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of joinery workers.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and capabilities.
    • Conduct regular team meetings and provide constructive feedback.
  2. Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with project managers and other foremen to develop work schedules and plans.
    • Ensure that joinery work is integrated seamlessly with other construction activities.
    • Monitor progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet project deadlines.
  3. Quality Control:
    • Inspect completed joinery work to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.
    • Identify and address any defects or deficiencies in the work.
    • Implement corrective actions and improvements as needed.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce and promote strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety briefings and inspections.
    • Ensure that all workers have the necessary training and personal protective equipment.
  5. Material Management:
    • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of joinery materials and supplies.
    • Monitor inventory levels and reorder materials as needed to avoid shortages.
  6. Problem Solving:
    • Identify and resolve issues or challenges related to joinery work.
    • Propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of joinery work progress, including photos and reports.
    • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for project managers.
  8. Communication:
    • Liaise with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
    • Communicate effectively with team members to relay instructions and expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Joinery Foreman or in a similar supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Preferred:

  • Certification or formal training in joinery or carpentry.
