Job Description

Responsible to ensure the availability & reliability of electrical system, machines and equipments. Also responsible to check machines and equipment age, obsolescence & diverse range of manufacturers, to improve speed of diagnosis & rectification of power failure situations, so as to reduce downtime & to integrate new facility installations with existing electrical systems, commissioning tie-in with the existing electrical network, considering the unknown performance characteristics of the integrated system & equipment

1 To organize and manage the Electrical section as necessary from the receipt of tenders to the completion of final accounts.

2 To ensure that sub-contractors are supervised and their standard of work is acceptable and incompliance with recognized safety practices and agreed specifications.

3 To ensure through Electrical supervisors and charge hands that labour, materials, plant and equipment are used effectively and efficiently.

4 To control and effectively manage all the sections operations through regular site visits as necessary and in accordance with frequencies considered essential in order to assess progress, safety and quality and to give instruction or advice.

5 To monitor & analyze failure reports, identify bad actors ((Root cause analysis)(RCA)) and initiate corrective actions & develop solutions to rectify the problems & improve the performance. To identify equipment obsolescence threats & develop recovery strategies for action.

6 To propose, develop and implement Plant Change Request (PCR) by conducting site engineering studies to determine the feasibility of introducing modification to increase reliability & efficiency of plant.

7 To coordinate with neigh boring network authorities for activities on the inter connectors, studies &; high voltage switching activities.

8 To enforce the implementation of Health, Safety & Environment Management System.

9 To participate in the studies, analysis, design amendment & planning for plant modification or new equipment.

10 To attend Divisional Management Meetings, preparing and presenting reports as necessary.

11 To undertake specific projects and prepare reports for the Engineering Services Manager Operations as required.

12 To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.

13 All other duties and responsibilities assigned by Maintenance Director.
