Job Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Head to lead the commercial direction and operations of a contract inflight travel magazine for our client, Etihad Airways. The role requires a high-performing and innovative individual with substantial experience in sales, particularly in an international context, who will be responsible for identifying and converting business opportunities, managing, and growing client relationships, and optimising commercial operations to achieve business objectives and targets. The successful candidate will possess a strategic mindset, exceptional negotiation skills, and a passion for achieving excellence in the highly competitive field of inflight media.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop new business opportunities and secure advertising from various companies.
  • Research and identify potential advertisers such as tourism boards, hotels, airlines, and other travel-related businesses.
  • Develop and manage sales targets, ensuring the advertising revenue meets or exceeds the predetermined goals.
  • Design and implement strategic sales plans to achieve sales goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with advertisers, ensuring long-term partnerships.
  • Address any concerns or issues advertisers may have and negotiate contracts and agreements.
  • Create compelling advertising proposals and presentations to persuade potential clients to advertise in the magazine.
  • Customize advertising packages based on the advertiser’s needs and budget.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and advertising pricing to determine competitive price points.
  • Work closely with the editorial, design, and production teams to ensure the seamless integration of advertisements.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all advertiser requirements are met.
  • Represent the magazine brand at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network and secure new business opportunities.
  • Promote the magazine to potential advertisers through various channels, including email, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of advertising contracts to secure advantageous agreements.
  • Ensure that advertising contracts are executed properly and manage any amendments or renewals.
  • Track sales performance and generate regular reports for senior management.
  • Manage the advertising sales budget effectively and allocate resources efficiently to maximize ROI.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure that they align with the budgeted amounts.
  • Suggest and implement improvements for the advertising sales process.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and propose innovative advertising solutions.




Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of proven sales experience, preferably in the media, advertising, or aviation and tourism sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing and growing international accounts and partnerships.
  • Exceptional negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Network consisting of travel, hotel, tourism agencies and direct clients.

Required Skills:

  • Strong international experience, with the ability to understand and adapt to different cultures and business landscapes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed.
